Eagle Farm Saturday
Race 1
Mr Hornblower was super unlucky last start,,thank god as i was on General Patton that day anyway...He's off the 7 day back up but he wasnt knocked around at all last start and races well on the fresh side.....worry alittle about Plumb ... Phoenix Express is the other main danger,,,this horse is flying ,,has an awkward barrier but he gets back anyway and i'm pretty sure Cahill can get him in a nice possie....but the tempo might go against him though.. These rate on top clearly,,,a good exacta race ... I'm not sure what odds Mr Hornblower will be as i'm sure he'll be supported heavily tomorrow...Elegant Roi will have supporters aswell especially dictating up front....Pheonix express might be the one overlooked ..... Charvicky is interesting with the light weight....will be a mile back though ...tempo ? will be playing around with the multis here for sure.. Mr Hornblower / Pheonix Express .....Charvicky/ Elegant Roi Race 2 Big Mick with no weight and again with Plumb on board will probably lead this and he'll take a stack of beating...meets Eskimo Dan better at the weights .. Eskimo Dan you'd think after last start has King Latarmiss covered and Radar Orielly who i think is becoming a nonwinner but he does get alot to suit here ,,,just worry about the likely tempo,,, Big Mick e/w / Eskimo Dan....Radar Orielly/ the great i am Race 3. I'm a fan of Tornadic Sky here...been good to me this horse...i'd prefer him at doomben and also with a bit of give in the ground but i still think around here he'll be hard to catch...,Mersey Beat and Polar Wolf both worry me as they like to lead aswell and what this obviously means is it should be a very nice tempo,,, Sea Zulu the northerner is very well suited with this aswell as the roomy straight..the horse is flying even taking into account the usual fast times at Townsville... Might be able to back both as it looks an open betting race,, Sea Zulu / Tornadic Sky...My Song/Mersey Beat Race 4. How Brave is very impressive,,,looks like a horse that could take the next step...i just love the way this horse moves and i think he'll have these covered,, How Brave ....field Race 5. Throw a dart here...mine ended up on Will to Endure whos been racing very well up north..Nedyims Image the obvious,, Kauro Square capable horse with a chance ....i'll be having a alittle e/w on Will to endure in this lottery Race 6. Enthusiast is to good take on here....looks like he'll be short but a nice selection for treble ...picablu the only danger.. Race 7. I've been waiting for Devils Inside and here she is...but check out that horrible alley but atleast here at E/F it isnt as bad as across the road.....Anca is also very smart but weight ?? so theres a few questions...I went for something that will be back and suited by the likely tempo,,,came up with Sweet Ransom whos been racing well and capable of running time to win this...Stewarts on which is the only negative... a very good betting race...i still think even with the bad barrier Devils Inside the main danger..i think she'll start 2.50 or so but if they do come for the toppy she might be backable,,...Sweet ransom 20's ?.....(Rosie a horse i always back e/w is racing in this and she wont disgrace herself ) Sweet ransom / Devils Inside...Anca/Persuades./Tycoon Rose/Miss Clang Race 8. Son Of Dane is classy...has weight but he's easily the best horse in this race ...best bet on the program.. Rashini is flying and again gets the ugly barrier...still in this as is Mr Sequential Son of Dane ...Rashini/Mr Sequential/Mi Cielo Best bets .. Mr Hornblower . How Brave . Son Of Dane . (enthusiast / devils inside if you like the shorties) Best e/ws .. Big Mick . Sweet Ransom Best Roughies . Will to Endure . Tycoon Rose Not a day i'm overly confident about..Plumb and Stewart are both queries for me...but with the likely tricky track in Sydney and the wet in melbourne i might have to find a few winners up here.. other state selections (the short list) Sydney Verb, Eremien, Tuesday Joy Melbourne Spinney, Rubijon/Bird dancer, Zupoane, Our Smoking Joe, Perfectly Ready , Astrodame/Marju Snip Adelaide Potent Mix, Roll Me/Dawnstorm, Taos Pleasure, Royal Ida, Subsequential Belmont Interange, Blevvo Newcastle Best View |

Hey Mav,
Back at EF this week, should be good for a change. Weather is great up here after the rain of last week...which along with the good size fields, should make for a good days racing. Race 1 - Well all the rage is Mr Hornblower after what happened last time. Im willing to go around him for the top spot though, as i am also not completely convinced on Plumb and because he may just be one of those horses who constantly runs into trouble. I've settled on Elegant Roi because he will appreciate the drop back to 1400m and he will be on pace. Raedecker takes the 3 off which puts him in with a feather weight from a good gate. He'll do me. Mr Hornblower for 2nd. You couldnt leave him out after what happened last time. Put General Patton in this and he'd win by a margin. Phoenix Express for 3rd. Has a good finishing burst, but coming back to 1400m doesn't appear to suit....altho i can see a bit of speed here. Race 2 - Pretty poor stayers race, as usual. Settled on Eskimo Dan with no confidence on the strength of his good performance in winning last time. He seems to be on the rise, which is more than you can say about the balance of this field. Big Mick seems to be attracting some attention here this morning, and with good reason. His effort last time was very good, and 3 kgs off his back, has to be given a big chance to knock off the fav. King Latarmiss for 3rd, who has talent but is not the most reliable bloke going around. Race 3 - Well Sea Zulu is all the rage here. I think he'll be too strong for them here. Altho it is only Northern Queensland form, he has been winning well and in fast time. With the good alley, i think he'll be too good. Not bet race though, with the apprentices going around . Mersey Beat can improve too, in the poor field. Forgive the last run, in the hot C6 field won by My Son Day. The runs before that were very good and would see him competitive here. Private Frisco might be able to run a race here too, with some speed on - 3rd pick. Race 4 - Well i think the top 2 are the way to go (no surprises there). I've settled on Takeitall because he will be a better price and has drawn a better alley. He was very impressive at Doomben last time and you'd think the extra ground and the bigger straight will suit even more. Given that, i'm willing to gamble on him. How Brave was good last time, but i really can't see why there is so much hype yet - he hasn't beaten anything. The drop back in distance is not ideal either. Having said that, he has been winning and these aren't the greatest set going around. Vargas Girl performed well last time and meets How Brave much better on the weights. Could sneak at place at odds. Race 5 - Well King Of Trumps is all the rage, but i am a little worried about what Phil said on his site. Not being one who can spot problems easily yet, and knowing that Phil is generally on the mark, i'll sit up and take notice. I'm still going to tentatively put him on top because i can't see any others who are any good, but im not confident. The way he has been finishing off has been great, but its a concern that he seems field-shy. He's always so far off them at the turn, that he has to make up 10+ lengths. Not worth a bet at $3 for mine. Make Music has opened short in early markets, which is a surprise. He is still lightly raced though, and might be able to run well here. Nediym's Image needs to win one in town before i jump on, but has been racing consistently. Race 6 - Enthusiast should be too good here. Has been racing against better horses than these, and the scratching of Spur Me On takes a lot of the speed out. He'll sit close to the speed and kick away and be too strong, i think . Cajun Steel shouldn't be underestimated though. If there is good speed and the leaders begin to paddle, this is the one to get them. Has been running some good races in Northern NSW with big weights - strong chance. Picablu for 3rd, who should appreciate the shorter trip. Race 7 - Good race. I like Rock on Bye. Horse on the up who can run good time. Has a great alley for Pope to put her where she feels comfortable, i think she'll go close. Devil Inside is a nice mare who also can run good time - has a win over La Montagna to her credit too. The only issue i see here is the 1200m at EF. I think it might be slightly too far for her, especially with speed on. Anca for 3rd who is a quality mare and i wouldn't be at all surprised if she beat them easily. Race 8 - Well, i don't know what is going on with Son of Dane, but they just keep scratching him. Because of his scratching, much of the interest has gone out of this race for me. Anyways, Maybe Bunsen Honeydew can get home on the back of some hot speed up front. Rashini has been racing well, but has another bad alley and will probably be trapped deep again. Funlove is in the same boat, but is a good horse and could over come it. Altho i don't think the 1000m suits her perfectly, she was racing against better ones than these during the carnival. Good luck all, Sven |

A good day to forget for me,,,i knew it was going to be "one of those days"
Brisse Race 1 saw Mr hornblower at ridiculous odds and a massive plunge on Elegant Roi ...the horse i thought would get to good odds did ,Phoenix express was 11's on ias,,had a nice e/w go and wasnt dissapointed..elegant Roi just dictated and was to good,,,,Mr Hornblower alittle ordinary... Race 2...with Eskimo Dan scratched all value for Big Mick went out the window and i think even with eskimo dan in the race he wouldve started short as there was a nice tip around for him.....ordinary race ,,,ordinary winner.. Race 3...how short was Sea Zulu,,wow ,,ridden poorly and should have won...another look on race.. Race 4....got the 3's about How Brave and jumped on...i'm convinced this horse is potential..had to laugh when he got whipped,,the horse jumped 2 metres in the air...he'll learn and when he does hes going places.. Race 5....Had a e/w on Will to endure,,,horse did alot of work early and faded quickly..king of Trumps flew when clear...ordinary bunch.. Race 6....enthusiast was poor,,,,Picablu fought hard but you think Video Hits had it won...Piccolo quinella Race 7...backed Sweet RAnsom e/w to come from the back and swamp them late,,,she did ok for a close up 5th ....a win soon for her... Race 8...is Son Of Dane ever going to race..... ?? A Something back with Phoenix Express..loses on Will to endure/ Sweet Ransom and How Brave... Sydney Ereimien ..bit to short for me..how good is Newtons going,,,,,,Tuesday Joy was again an absolute massive run.... Melbourne Rubijon / Perfectly Ready / Astrodame ...all loses and all ran very well ... Adelaide Potent Mix / Roll me / Taos Pleasure loses and then woohoo Subseqential Belmont Blevvo...wooooohoooo ...just got there,, Newcastle Best View a special,,,but to short for me... All in all ..14 races with only 3 results.....not a drastic loss thanks to a nice trifecta in Adelaide..but still a poor result but i guess i was due and i knew today was going to be a tuff one... thing is if Perfectly Ready or Rubijon or Roll Me gets up , i'm in the black,,,...dont you just love racing |
