Autumn Fantasy comp
Okay, I need people to start signing up for this now, so that I know exactly how many people want to be involved and I can start organising things.
I usually like to make each comp a little different to the last one, to keep people interested. This time however, I intend to make a pretty big change. If possible, I'm going to arrange it so that only ONE person can "own" each individual horse. Say for example you had the Doncaster winner in your stable, then you would be the only one in the whole competition with that horse. I think this will make it very interesting. One point though. You may have to come on this site fairly regularly during January in order to be able to choose your stable. I'm not completely sure about that. I still have to work a few things out in that regard. I will try to make it as simple for everyone as I can. But in any case, I think it should make choosing stables pretty exciting anyway. So please tell me if you want to have a go. Deadline to sign up is December 31. Last edited by Sportz : 14th December 2006 at 07:41 AM. |

Sportz, Awesome idea.
Can we select horses in a Draft format with trades acceptable (Like i'll trade you 2 lower ranked selections for a top pick etc..)?? A draft may take a few weeks as each has to post there selection in order but it would be fun. If it means anything i am willing to let you have Number 1 pick in reward for time and effort throughout competition, but thats just me. No idea how you work out an order from No. 2 onwards. |

Really need to know how many competitors there will be before I actually announce the final set of rules. But basically, it will work like this. In January, we'll choose our initial stable of around 10-12 horses. There will also be two further trading periods in the comp where we will add a couple more horses (before the Blue Diamond and before the Golden Slipper). Anyway, the person whose stable of horses has earned the highest amount of total prizemoney in the period from January 26 to April 14 will be the winner. |

It will certainly be a draft type of thing, but I think the sort of trades you're talking about could perhaps make it a bit too confusing. I will be deciding the order by simply drawing out of a hat, but I will make it completely fair to everyone by dividing the horses into different groups. For example, the person who gets first choice of the horses in one group will get last pick of horses in another group. That sort of thing. |

Excuse this old head sportz, but I can't quite get it around how this comp. would play out [?]
OK, we have a stable of horses and then what? We add up the winnings of our stable? What about if we have some lightly raced horses set for certain goals and others have a go for [short term] cash stable? How does it pit one player against another when really in the end it's just horses against horses and luck of how the original draw [regardless of how fair] pans out?
