![]() Titanic Jack warmed up for Saturday's Group 2 Ascot Vale Stakes (1200m) at Flemington with a sensational trial win down the straight course on Tuesday. Titanic Jack, ridden by race jockey Damien Oliver, won the 800m jump-out by 12 lengths.

![]() And the top o morning to you EI and all the folk out there in forum land!
Wouldn't get too carried away with Titanic Jacks winning margin EI, reports via the grapevine suggest that most of the other horses in the jumpout were having just that, a jumpout of the barriers and a gallop for a couple of furlongs then easing down, seems Titanic Jack was about the only horse given a proper hitout all the way to the post. Having said that, obviously in fine shape and a definite winning chance in the Ascot Vale along with Innovation Girl and Able Choice.

![]() Good mornin' Paddy,
Whenever I post any trackwork results etc, it is to suggest that the horse is fit, but doesn't suggest that the horse might be up to the class of the opposition in any upcoming race. Reports are that when he pulled up, he wouldn't have blew out a candle! Perhaps could be a value bet if the odds are right, as you know he is fit. |

![]() Hi EI, Paddy,
Looking at my own speed and pace based performance ratings Titanic Jack and Innovation Girl are the only two horses that can win the Ascot Vale. Titanic Jack rated 107 behind Bel Esprit last start which is very good and Innovation Girl rated 109 in her win the following week. Titanic Jack will improve however down to 53 kg's the edge in my view must go to Innovation Girl. Brief Embrace is some hope but she would need to improve at least 2 lengths from her last effort. In saying that, depending on the prices bet Titanic Jack could be good value over Innovation Girl. I think he will end up being once of the best horses to come out of the Spring. Being by Encosta Delago I don't expect we will see the best of him until he gets over 1400-1600m and he is actually my early tip for the Caulfield Guineas. |

![]() Yes I agree Osulldj,
Innovation girl also has the class over Titanic Jack but could be value if the odds are right. Anything 10/1 plus would be a bonus. |

![]() EI, I made a slight oversight yesterday and didn't realise that Able Choice was running in the Ascot Vale.
After doing the form last night I have them the following way Innovation Girl $3.20 Able Choice $5.10 Titanic Jack $5.80 These three should absorb about 70% of a 100% market in my eyes. There isn't much hope for the others, maybe Brief Embrace who I have around $8. The one thing Titanic Jack has in his favour is a previous win up the straight at Flemington. Statistically, horses who have raced there in the past do slightly better than first starters. However there doesn't look to be a lot of pace and Able Choice is likely to be right along side Innovation Girl up near the lead. Titanic Jack might be back a bit and that will just make things a bit harder for him. I think we're dreaming if we think he's going to be anywhere near $10 about Titanic Jack. The win of Bel Esprit was three lengths superior to Innovation Girls last win and both Able Choice and Titanic Jack finished about 3 lengths from Bel Esprit. Innovation Girl however is dropping from 57.5kg's to 53 while the others are about the same weight. That is the key factor for the race. Both Able Choice and Titanic Jack have more scope for improvement so while Innovation Girl must rate on top, she is no good thing. I will have no hesitation in taking on Innovation Girl is she runs much shorter than $3.20 and the others are longer. |
