Default Hong Kong Betfair

Does anyone know why Betfair don't cover Hong Kong racing?

I would imagine huge turnover figures if the Asian market were aware they could get on an exchange to both lay and back?

Also anyone know why there are no trading records or historical data for Australian races?

I am not sure but i would say it has to do with thier strong gambling laws and protection of thier own tote system, much the same way WA government are cutting us out of the deal.

It's all rather confusing.
Betfair is banned in HK. So no racing.
Betfair is banned in the USA. Yet we have their racing, tennis, golf, football etc etc etc
Beats me.

Under that ruling we should not have any Perth racing covered either?

So, it all doesn't make an ounce of sense.

If we can bet on Perth, but nobody in Perth can bet, there's no reason why Aussies couldn't bet on Honkers.

Shaun, I really do feel for you

What the WA government are doing is wrong because it is against the australian fairtrade agreement between states, it realy is stupid because they don't stop us from betting with Sportsbet or IAS or any other service you tell me the difference.

If they think that people will try and fix races while laying there own horses well that has been put to bed because betfair have said they will disclose all information if needed on accounts.

If the WA government think that by banning me from using betfair that i will start using the tote they are mistaken and i think i can say the same for any punter that uses betfair right now we will just go back to using best tote with another service.

The only issue i can see here is if they decide to restrict my betting with these services as they do with anyone that makes a good profit, if this happens i will have to work something out.

The world watches the US and with live broadcasts of US racing into the UK, it can generate its own liquidity. Few companies are going to bother negotiating with the US govt to let them in, ain't gonna happen any time soon and intellectual property for race fields etc aren't their concern.

HK racing would need locals betting on it to generate the liquidity as its not televised into many places - they tried it a few yrs back and the pools were small. I think they'd rather try goodwill and negotiate with them to get in legally rather than earn tiny amounts of revenue and ******** off the govt.
