Hi Brave Chief.

I saw you have mentioned Ozeform "ratings" in a few posts and I use their site quite regularly for other information. I have never seen a ratings section???

If you could steer me in the right direction I'd be grateful.

Cheers.

the Horse Form Search under the "Thoroughbreds" menu
You have to register to use it, but that only takes seconds.

Also, the Speed Maps on racedays (when they bother to post them, that is), you click a horses name on the map and it directs you to its form history.

Good luck with them. Tell me what you think. I've had success with them. They don't always completely concur with my own evaluations, but. I'm going to use them as a base to build up my own set of race ratings.

For example, in the Caulfield Cup and Mackinnon Stks, they over-rated both races I believe (the Cup by 4 kg's, imo). They also under-rated Media Puzzles win in Geelong.

Still, they work well.

Email me at gripweed@swirvemail.com if you want to discuss ratings sometime.

Thanks Brave Chief, I guess you are referring to the weight rating given to each horse - I thought they had started giving out price ratings.

Incidentally, the techform ratings on Supertab are grossly innacurate. Some 3 horses sit on techform ratings of 97 with no apparent reason and perform well below that level.
Just an observation.

I too use the horse form search facility on ozeform but take very little notice of their rating. Instead I just use it as a way of finding out how consistent (or not) a horse is. I can tell you what is pretty crappy are the Mark Read tips given daily on the site. Out of curiosity I look at them and then look at each horses form on the horse form search and often wonder how, given all the info they have at their fingertips, they can manage to get it so wrong. Mind you if you opened an account with him and then used his tips it would certainly work in his favour.

luckylouie,

I too have looked at their supposed "Trading Floor" plunges with great amusement. There is a scrolling ticker which say $1,000 bet on Flemington Race 1 Horse 1 etc and it's obviously not very accurate given the chances of most selected runners.

Another thing to be wary of is if some guy has a balance of $5,000 and his bet is $1,000 or $2,000 - then it's a significant bet. If his balance is $20,000 - $50,000 etc then it isn't.
I know of one high profile punter and a $1,000 bet is simply like having $1.00 each way for most punters - you only take notice when he plunges $20,000 plus on a runner!

By the way, they are not allowed to transfer bets like that amount to the ticker due to an "understanding" with that particular punter.
Say it all.
