It's a tough one. The horse had a hard run in the Cox Plate and now looks like backing up in the Derby. Is John Hawkes making a blunder?

i think he has made a mistake and thats why he is the lay of the day extra weight extra distance and could start favorite not for mine the value is amalfi good luck phantom//

I agree with The Phantom, Amalfi to win the Derby with Sircarn Damon a possible long shot. Gai Waterhouse has him up into winning form and could steal the show.

Fair chance Hawkes knows what he is doing. 3yos who perform well in the Cox Plate nearly always do so in the Derby too and if he is a lot longer than Ustinov, I think the exacta with him beating Ustinov will be the way to go.

Phantom & Horse Cents were right with Amalfi. I was disappointed with Ustinov & Viscount, but it's not an exact science, right ?
