![]() The Stock Market has a good system of useable stats [the market index] because to become part of them certain peramiters are required to be met before a Company becomes listed [joins the Index]. If this was not the case the Index would be unreliable and useless.
There is no reason, especialy considering all the stats available here, why a similar "Index" could not be arrived at in horse racing. To qualify [to be a meaningful unit]for the Index, races that contibute in a profitable way to it only, can join."Wanna-be's" like Maidens dont get a look in until they prove their mettle.Ditto to Fillies and Mare races:too unreliable because of the hormone thing.Hudles...the nag carring your money always falls over and 1000m races are a bit dodgy due to the start thing, which has our money beting on...the start thing.Heavy tracks, well how heavy is it? Slow tracks require consideration perhaps because some swear by them as a good earn. The Racing Index created would then have a meaning without "weighing" by statisticly useless races. |

![]() Very interesting concept Crash, and one that has never really been addressed prior.
Gets the grey matter churning. But just how to apply it to racing has me a little bamboozled. If any one else has any ideas or input maybe we could get the ball rolling. Great post. |

![]() Thanks for the interest Chrome Prince. What I'm suggesting would'nt be that hard, especialy in this industry.
There seems to be plenty of stats around [just view some recent posts]. If these stats could be utilized for the purpose of makeing money rather than winning arguments, they could be of some serious benefit to all who could use them wisely. If we could take out of available stats, just maidens, we have got rid of what, say 40% of statistacly useless and "weighing" info.that distort stats? That should'nt be that hard to do. If in the second stage we could take out those other races well maybe we have gotten rid of about 60% of statisticly useless info. ie: races we dont bet on. Or should'nt.Whats left might give us somthing to work with. Thanks for the interest. I have noticed over many years that all stats based systems fall on their face. The main cause is surely the scew-wiff that occures because they are collected from all races togeather. What do they say? "Oils aint Oils"! |

![]() I agree.
Probably eliminate maidens and hurdles and the data will change quite a bit. Not necessarily the strike rate, but I'm sure the profit or loss will. |
