2 Step Authentification?
I'd been warned about the risk of having my Betfair account hacked#, and in this day and age, why doesn't that surprise? It was suggested I upgrade to 2 step authentification#. "What's that?", I thought.
I googled it and basically, providing you have a mobile phone, you have an app that is continually changing a 6 number code. Every time you log in to Betfair, be it individually or using a bot, you add the current 6 numbers displayed on the app after your password. I rang the boys in TAS, and at first they were bereft of any idea about what I was talking about. Finally got through to someone who did and the process isn't quite as simple to setup as I don't have a UK IP address. However they managed to sort it and I feel a lot happier. #..Special thanks to UB as well |

We use something similar at work, 8 digit number that refreshes every 60 seconds on our phones that has to be used within that 60 second timeframe to log in along with username and password otherwise you don't get in.
Also there is an australian guy on instagram who trades on betfair, particularly on major sporting events and claims to make big money. Put a video up yesterday showing his account balance being over $9 million dollars. Can post his instagram handle here for those of you with instagram accounts that want to have a look - seemed kinda bogus to me but maybe i'm just overly skeptical. |

Hi evajb, can you post his handle? Always interested in what people are making or claiming to make on Betfair. |

@thepropunter
I think he also just started an investment service for others to gain access to his punting/trading team - claimed to make 9% ROI in week 1. Anyhow take a look I just follow the guy for interests sake, could all be fake for all I know but he loves throwing pictures up of money and cars haha. |

Thanks evajb. I agree it smells like a ********. I think the only scenario where it might not be a ******** is where he's trying to attract "investor accounts" to get around the premium charges and corporate account closures. I followed him on instagram but I can't see any of his posts. No idea how instagram works. |

Paypal and some banks use a random number method,
BF ought to consider this as an option if they have not yet done so. Quote:

interesting concept, we have come a full circle. At the beginning the electronic transfer of money was hailed as height of security and convenience eliminating dangers of cash transport and so on. Now it has come to a point where such transgressions have taken on a global nature and some hacker in some corner of the world can empty your account without much chance of ever being brought to account of his actions.
The answer is multiple steps of authentication, password juggling and changing every few days external key generators and other possible defense strategies. Not so convenient or secure anymore.
