I have been running a test to check the performance of horses which shorten a meaningful number of ticks on BF in the last few minutes before a race. That is the only criterion.
It has produced a sharp increase in the hit rate of the fancied horses as follows Fav wins 41% 2nd fav 24% 3rd fav 18% 4th fav 14% Each of these groups has made a level stakes profit so far.

Nice work, interesting stats.
I wonder ifs just a bubble at the moment with the results showing profit, or if there is actually something in it long term? |

It is regressing to the mean at present. 34%, 21, 11 and 11 resp. I'm still running it in test and the stats build up quickly.
