Default 2 to lay

Happy Clapper and Kementari.

Yes you read it right.

The form guide will show them finishing just behind the champ and all the so called e xperts will talk them up. "What price would Winx be"?, and "how far would she win by", etc.

Truth is, they've both had gut busters on a heavy track and will be expected to back up a week later in one of the toughest mile races on the calendar.

Have a look at those that have finished behind her, how they go at their next run or even the one after (without a break).

I'm prepared for the flack and to eat my words but will be surprised if either of them runs a place next week.

Wink

Mark, I read a few years ago that when most horses have an extremely hard run on a heavy track that their next run can be very suspect so I believe the situation is not unknown. And if the track is heavy again next run it could be very interesting. You make a good point that the race is one of the toughest miles on the calendar. I haven't seen the field yet but I expect it would be very competitive.

thanks

Cool

Ok, I'm here to take my medicine, but with some get out clauses.

(1) This year the Doncaster was not run a week later at Easter, a fact I overlooked when first posting. This gave the 2 horses mentioned an extra week to recover.
(2) I did lay them both, but Kementari was much worse and I laid him each way to boot.
(3) I work primarily as a layer and only worked Randwick today where no favourites won.
(4) I won 10 times as much on El Dorado Dreaming than I lost on Happy Clapper's race.

All in all an excellent day, however I was wrong with the initial post.

We all know we can be wrong on one race/selection. People can't be judged on one or two races.
