after the magnificent win of private steer in the doncaster i think any (if any) doubts linger on the champion status of lonhro are left they can be dispensed with.

lonhro is versatile/consistent wins on different tracks/distances/against all comers/different riders/great percentagestrike rate/ what more can we say.
because he didnt win the cox plate he was canned a little but many horses dont handle moonee valley . bravo lonhro lets go out a big winner next week.

Not only that, but we now have hypocrites on other forums who argued with me that it wasn't the track at the Valley and Lonhro was not a champ, posting topics like "Who'll be the next champ after Lonhro's gone?"

Really makes ya laugh when you re-read the old posts and arguments. A bit like people who jump camps during an unsuccessful Footy season.

There's no way lonhro is a true champion, he's just a people's champion. Has he won a Cox Plate, Caufield Cup or a Melbourne Cup plus at least half a dozen other G1s. No No No!!. He's in the tie the knot, Vo rogue league. Can't win in big fields AND when true pressure was on.

You have your interpretation Dupain, I have mine.
Not many can match Lonhro's strike rate over his career in black type races, they just pull out one or two good one's and get labelled champ.

BTW he's won more Group 1's than any other horse in the last few years including Northerly.

For me I have never liked Lonhro at all and probably never will but it is hard to knock what he has done and atleast unlike some other horses you know what you are getting from him week after week always gives 100% sometimes he just wasn't good enough on the day.

As for Northerly it is ridiculos to compare the 2 of them Northerly was a tough horse who ground out wins usually by trying to control the race himself and I think if he had of been fit last year he would have had 3 Cox Plates to his credit.

For me I still rate Northerly the better horse the Cox Plate, Caufield Cup double was awesome but Lonhro is up there he has to be just by the sheer ammount of group 1s he has won if nothing else.
