Something that I once wrote in an earlier life.
You can only win the amount of overs you have received, regardless of what it says on the betting slip. If you are constantly betting when you have a 10% edge, then you will make 10% profit over time whether your selection starts at EVENS or 100's. It is when your perceived edge is wrong that you will in fact lose over time. There is powerful knowledge in these words for men of understanding. |

Have to disagree. Just because your perceived edge is wrong doesn't mean you won't profit. You WILL be wrong many times, times when your perceived edge of 10% is actually only breakeven. There will also be times when your perceived edge of 5% is really 15%.
It doesn't really matter what your perceived edge is, as long as overall you have an edge (unless this leads to overbetting). Individual bets don't matter. You'll make good bets and bad bets. What matters is that overall the good bets outnumber or outvalue the bad bets. |

Well it is obvious if you have underestimated your perceived edge, then that is a bonus to you.
But as to good bets outnumbering the bad bets,it only applies to situations where you bet at even money or more. I quite often take odds-on chances because I consider them still to be exceptional value. And to increase the return I couple them in Multi's. |

Moeee, An old chappie said to me many years ago that expecting instant gratification from the punt will eventually break you. Providing your selections are good anything above bank interest rates are acceptable. He died some years ago owning 2 farms that he won on the punt and with managers on both. He spent his working life as a barber. Cheers. |

Which is why I said outnumber OR outvalue. "And to increase the return I couple them in Multi's." And in doing so variance increases massively. Single bets are superior to multis. The only time to use a multi is if it's the only way you can make both bets. |

Mr J,
Why do you consider singles to be so superior to Multi's? |
