Cool ta - I think this year the TRIFECTA will be 3yo's. I don't think the HK horse can give them weight and beat them, either. I think the only open age horse with a chance is Spark of Life.

And if I remember right, Sports's year was a bad year I think and didn't Spinning Hill beat a small field?

Yeah, I looked at the field for Sports' year and it didn't look the strongest. Anyway, here are the placings in those years:
2001: Sports (6g), Black Bean (5g), Easy Rocking (4h) 12 starters 2002: Spinning Hill (5m), Mistegic (3g), Chong Tong (3g) 15 starters 2003: Choisir (3c), Spinning Hill (6m), Azevedo (3c) 9 starters 2004: Regimental Gal (3f), Our Egyptian Raine (5m), Mistegic (5g) 12 starters |

Yeah - was wrong about spinning hill's small field. In the last three years, 5 of the nine placings have been filled by 3yo's. Often at this time of year the WFA scale suits 3yo's.
