Default WA Sectionals

Hi All,
While searching through the forum I located a message by Brave Chief that was about gathering sectional time information from the CRIS website.

I can do a little with excel (novice) and was able to get the data into an excel doc but didn't want everything that came with it. Tried to edit the web query but I don't know how to identify the tables I need. Just chasing the 'horse, margin, time, and sectional'.

Would appreciate any help with this.

Thanks, Gary

hey Gary,

I gave up the idea a while ago only because of the time difference between WA and the eastern states. I'll stick with Syd & Mlb.

I'm not too sure as to the accuracy of the sectionals given, they may be spot on, or they may not. I didn't spend enough time with them.

Anyway, I located this excel file i was working on at the time. The idea was to download the file from the CRIS site, copy the cells i needed (all the results info) and paste that into the spreadsheet DATA page. This info is then converted into something meaningful (or meaningless) on the WORKINGS sheet, and the info that I wanted is located on the RATINGS table.

Simply do this for every race.

It may be something you could work with and improve on. As for the times, there is a problem in how Excel displays it on the downloaded file. For one horse it will display a time of 1:37.06, for another it will display 0.068069. I couldn't work out how to fix that problem.

Hi!
I may be able to help you with this. As far as I can see sectionals (600m) is only available for Ascot and Belmont in WA.
I can select the racedate , racenum, horse, margin, racetime and the sectionals for you if you want, and put it into an Excel sheet for you.
Have a couple of years back data, maybe more, upto the latest results.
Give me an Email address if interested.

Thanks for your offer of help. I sent the WA turf club an email asking them when it is likely that the sectional times for country meetings will be avaible. I know it is wishful thinking but in this day and age ....
