Default Horses for Courses

Proves how silly I am - posted this in the wong forum initially
There have been lots of systems devised in this forum over time. Many forumites have checked through their records and tested them and have come up with %ages. win/loss ratios and what have you. But it seems to me that the tests have been "across the board" - as in thousands of races in all states & venues. My question to members is has anyone tested systems on a per track basis. Something along the lines that a system is (say) based on horses starting from barrier 1, and have a strike rate of 40% or better wins 60% of the time at all tracks - but at Caulfield that percentage climbs to 75%, or on the other hand it is only 20% at Rosehill. I would be interested if anyone has checked these details in depth. It might be that of the many ides put forward here there are some that could pay consistently - but I don't know

I have my own rating system which I run on WA races and I place my bets according to which track the races are at. I find for instance that at Belmont over the years I can come out around 12% ahead year after year and at Ascot I come out around 8% behind year after year. Hence I very rarely bet on races at Ascot but always have a go at Belmont. I also find that some months perform better overall than others at most tracks, not really sure why, maybe temperature, weather, new horses returning from spells, I haven't been able to work out why.
My ratings are based on "form" rather than barrier such and such or third run back from a spell or whatever but I suppose it might apply to all sorts of systems.

Hi KV,

Bet Selector allows systems based on each track. I've found some tracks (Rosehill for example) to be surprisingly consistent in producing similar-type winners.

G'day K.V.
Thats just the sought of thing I am suggesting. If you are making a consistent profit at Belmont with your ratings and (for discussion sake) one of Bagwhan's systems is consistently in profit at Doomben but not elsewhere, and monkey's system is great only in Rosehill, perhaps we can marry them together and come up with a consistent profit. Could we not? But I guess thats the question I am posing - Perhaps we have systems out there that overall do not rate well enough for us to rush into, but they do rate highly at selected venues. Like your Belmont experience

Exclamation Horses racing at tracks with short STRAIGHTS

I've long been an exponent of horses who love short straights OR long straights.

Most of those victorian provincial & country tracks- plus Mooney Valley have short straights and are tight turners.

You guys with large databases just need to see how many winners at these venues are drawn in Barriers 1-6 over the shorter distance races(1000-1400).

It'll blow you away to find 85-90% of winners at these venues are drawn inside barrier seven in races under 7 furlongs(1400m).
To see which tracks I'm referring to go here:
http://www.ozeform.com/site/racing_...aglen&State=VIC

Yarra Glen is a prime example.
Call up a few others to see how short & turning these tracks are.
