Default Dumb

I can't believe it. I've sure learnt a lesson today. If you're betting over the internet, make sure you damn well CHECK YOUR BETS!!!

So typical of me. Just when I think I've done something right, I stuff up. In Race 6 in Melbourne today, I was planning on having the following any2 bets:
2 as a banker from 4,6,7,12,14 and 7 as a banker from 2,4,6,12,14. $1 on each for a total of $10.

But the idiot that I am I must have put the numbers I wanted for the bankers in the dollar amount section. So I've actually ended up with $2 on 4,6,7,12,14 (cost $20) and $7 on 2,4,6,12,14 (cost $70). When it comes up on the screen asking me if I want to confirm bet, I've just clicked on it without even paying any attention to what I was confirming. DUMB!!!

Anyway, the $20 bet won, but the $70 bet lost (narrowly). I've ended up making a loss of $53 instead of a profit of $8.

I'm sorry to hear of your misfortune Sportznut.
Probably won't make you feel much better, but I also stuffed up one time on footy.
And I don't think you are dumb.Maybe you were in a hurry.
And sometimes our shoelaces come undone coz we didn't tie 'em up tight enough.Still don't mean we are dumb.

Yes I was in a bit of a hurry. There was about a minute to go before the race. Even so, I still should have made absolutely sure that I was putting on the bets that I wanted to put on.

Betting on the internet is good in many ways but this is one way where it's definitely not. I've been writing out TAB tickets for years, so I wouldn't have made this mistake at the TAB, but if I had, when the lady said "That's $90", I would have been able to ask her to cancel the bets for me. Instead, on the internet, once you've confirmed your bet, that's it. And today, I didn't actually know about my mistake until a while after the race when I noticed that my balance was about $50 lower.

Feel for you mate, but we all make mistakes, and sods law tells us that when a mistake, the result will compound it, as has happened to you.

Thanks Mark.

Yes, and of course, the bet that won did happen to be the $20 bet. It couldn't have been the $70 bet, could it?

Anyway, never mind. It's just disappointing because punting is a hard enough thing as it is without making silly mistakes like this and putting yourself in the red when you shouldn't be.

I have done it myself Sportz tried to put $10 e/w on a horse but being an idiot and not checking gone and put in $50 or something like that in there or put the wrong numbers on when they have gotten up with the ones I thought I would have had. very disappointing and it is the only thing I worry about when putting bets on at home on the net account made to many mistakes and more often than not it has cost me.
