Foxseal, Red Handed, and Light Fingers are 3 that instantly come to mind over the past 38 years. I have only been following racing since 1965 therefore cannot comment on what happened before then, but I have heard that this was quite common then. Cheers, Martin |

1. Foxseal never won the Melb Cup - shortest winning journey 1400m. 2. Light Fingers - shortest winning journey after winning Melb Cup 1800m 3. Red Handed - shortest winning journey after Melb Cup 2000m. Best performers re versatility since 1965 probably Jeune, Saintly, Let's Elope, At Talaq who all won the CF Orr Stks 1400m G1 after winning the Melb Cup. 1000m winners - definately none. |
