Howy Chrome Prince,
Got filemaker and have set up three of the 4 files you suggested. Just wondering with the file for previous form, how indepth do you go? Do you put everything in like, date, position finished, track, race type, # of starters, jockey, barrier, odds, track cond, margin, time or just simple form? Also how many previous races do you record for the runner. Does it take you ages for meeting to do it all? thanks [ This Message was edited by: Release the Hounds on 2003-09-11 19:12 ] |

Hi Release The Hounds,
I go very in-depth in order to make the Db useful in creating systems. I also include last race prizemoney, margin beaten, wgt carried, last 600m time, prizemoney earnt that start etc etc. I go back three starts for each runner, but also have a master database which contains the form for every runner for the last few years. In short, the more information you can add, the more useful your database will be. Example: PPP does not have the facility for ranking career prizemoney in the field, or closing tote price (from what I understand) but I include this and many more pesonal preferences. It takes me about 3 days (part time) to get a weekend's racing done PROPERLY. The time invested is paying for itself though! Good Luck. |
