Now what I can't understand is they look fairly similar figures, actually as far as the average punter is concerned Brisbane was better.
SO why is Brisbane Dodgy and Melbourne good?????

It's all one-eyed of course. At least from this punter.
If your punting life has been centered mostly around one state's tracks, it's a moral that state's racing is better understood.
i just did a little experiment over about the last 12mths to see if I could get to grips with QLD racing. I've had some good wins over that time but overall it's been a disastrous experiment. Because QLD only attracted a small percentage of my punting dollar, I probably concentrated on trying to snag long-shots all the time with my bets up there. A good recipe for disaster I guess :-))
By the by, I did mean 'home of the dodgy bothers' [not doggy] in my original post. Just a typo error. Which was of course a biased opinion from me, as I'm sure there are punters who think the same about Vic. racing!
