Phil Purser's take on horses after having vaccinations when arriving OS [compulsory]:

They said Bentley Biscuit “jarred up,” but the inoculation may have flattened the horse. Then Pompeii Ruler had form before he went to Dubai, but he wouldn’t have beaten one of the Sheik’s prize camels over there. What an embarrassment that was. Look how a genuine “champion” mare like Makybe Diva went to Japan and nearly held up the next. Why?"

...as anyone who has travelled overseas can attest, you do end up feeling a little off for the next few days after arriving in new part of the world, and I'm sure it would be the same for horses too. Heck, even Victorian football teams end up suffering after coming back from Perth.

Just a humorous take from Phil. No real opinion in it I don't think.

I did hear a Melbourne trainer [didn't catch his name] on radio this morning saying horses are a bit off and flat for a few days after a jab. If a horse was racing Saturday he wouldn't have it jabbed on a Thursday that's for sure. He's wait until the Sunday.

Crash I've heard UK trainers say that horses are never the same after returning from Dubai. Apparently they lose alot of condition due to the heat and take along time (if ever) to return to their previous form.
