At 3.20 this morning the heavens above Brisbane opened and dropped absolutely torrential rain. It is still raining spasmodically and a check of the BOM radar indicates there is another significant amount of rain on the way from the West.

Time for the ducks I guess. Chinchilla Rose? Pinnacles? Black Ink is the best quacker in the race but dubious at the distance [7-0.3.0]. Nice 2nd last start
behind Chinchilla Rose over 1300m. Can he get another 100m?

I wouldn't say torrential. The track is still slow as it was yesterday and it wasn't torrential where I live (20 mins away from track).

It's a shame that Queenslands crown jewel in racing is continually saturated almost every year, the sad part is if it was 2 weeks earlier or a week or so later and it would be as dry as a bone.

The rain has made a mess of this race IMO but here goes anyway.

1. Double Dare: really like him in this race but I didn't ant to see it worse than dead I amlready on him so we'llsee what happens if it dries out a bit he is right in this.

2. Diplomatic Force: liked his run in the goodwood when getting through where noone wanted to be his 1st run in brissie was a cracker when not beaten far by El Cambio think he will handle the track and don't think the trip holds any fears, the barrier is no blessing but they can win from out there so I amnot real worried there he is my bet today.

3. Casino Prince: No explanation needed here he is in great form and isn't harshly treated at the weights whatever beats him I think wins the race.

4. Hard to Catch: yea I know his form doesn't look great but his runs are better than they look, if he can stay out of trouble in this I think he is a roughie with a chance to get into the placings he'll be hitting the line hard and is alot better than the 80-1 which is on offer on sportsbet.

5. Atapi: he is flying bad luck last start he has to lift another level here I feel but the odds will be there if you like him.

These are my top 5 I have plenty I could have included but this is what I like one I was reluctant to leave out was El Cambio but the wet track worries me with him.

Makybe, I didn't use the word "torrential" for effect. I am a very sound sleeper and the rain was that heavy at 3.22am (precisely) that it woke me. Looking out of my front door, I could barely see the neighbours house opposite. My pool rose at least an inch overnight. To me, as I saw it, it was "torrential". I also live 20 mins from Eagle Farm. A friend of mine at Hamilton (1 minute from Eagle Farm) reported similar.

Mate, I just call it as I see it.

Raw, I researched Diplomatic Force's breeding. It should love the wet. On a dry track, I'd have Casino Prince at 6/4, now I'm not so sure but as we all know, a class horse and D. Oliver is often a lethal combo. Trifecta 1/5/15/17/20??? I'll just be an observer however.

Good luck

Vormista comes into it even more now,,..
I know alot of people are knocking Casino but i dont know why,,hes carried heavier through the ground and chased The Hussler and RTW gamely ..
my tri (if you can afford it)
1,3,10,12,13 / 2,5,6,9,15,17,20..

There goes the chance of a reported sunny day for the straddie, still , lets hope we can get a dead rating?( at least by the straddie).

Definately agree with you raw about Double Dare, especially if it tends to dry out. He comes in well and has been his target all along, and if he can sit no worse than midfield, and of couse get some luck, then i think he really will be in it.

Casino Prince the same, no more rain, and u would think oliver has covered all options this time round.
Pinnacles and black ink like the going and might fly into the exotics. I'll back these 4 and definately not complaining bout the 18,s I stole about double dare a few weeks ago.

Good luck fellas!!

I finally settled on Pinnacles, an e/w on Hard to Catch and include Mr Baritone [better than it looks] for a 3 horse quin. Probably no hope, but it will be a good quin if it gets up!

Something to keep in mind here guys the track does seem to be playing a bit to the on pacers so far they are saying it is closer to heavy than it is anything else so maybe they are simply just haveing trouble picking there feet up to run on.
