Hi guys,

Can anyone recommend a decent results provider that includes all the basics, but also sectionals and positions in running for all states that is in a format easy enough to enter into a database (consistent for each state) that doesnt cost $1000's per year?

You can put any data into your own database, but why would you pay $$$$ for something you will use only part of?

The way I understand it gtx puts its own rating in the data as well to use it in the gtx rating, that is why it costs more.

You might be better off just getting raw data from someplace like Cyberhorse*, and if you can't do a parsing programme yourself (to turn it into data ready to import into a database), they are available.

Costs less than $300 a year.

*Mods. Not sure if I'm allowed to mention the provider?

They do when available, you have to realise this is mostly-only available for met. races.

Look, the data is the same from all providers, the difference is in the delivery format and additional "massaging" of the data.

Some do it in a comma delimited text file, some like Cyber in a zip file that after unzipping opens in a HTM page, (that is why you need to turn it into a text file or some other to import into a database) not hard at all if you know any programming at all.

Actually you can get these ZIP files in a more cumbersome way, free from Cyber. Many on this forum do.

For historical files, I think you may have to pay extra but is available.

ok great, parsing the data is no worries just so long as the format is consistent for all states. Csv would be ideal but any is fine
