Default Following a Trainer

Is it worthy of looking to trainers to follow as a system and only punting their horses when they're better than $4.00. I think PPM had a feature on trainers, but I didn't get the mag. I'd be interested to hear of any other punters who follow a stable and how they go.

I'd be concentrating on trainers who have served their time under the Master Trainers. I am going to stick a couple of Leon Corsten horses in my stable this spring and given them 5 runs.

I bought a database, and it's great. I've said it before and I'll say it again through my experience with this database "There's a fine line between winning and losing ..... getting the good POT is the easy part".

I'm more cautious than ever now, and convinced that simply following a few good horses might be the go for me. My criteria will be along the lines of either a lightly raced horse, one given time to mature, a well bred horse (I like Fastnet Rock) and maybe pick up one from S.A. or N.Z. coming over to Melbourne for a hit or two.

Anyone got any comments on following trainers ??????

Barney, I have often wondered about the big fish in the small pond.

If you could identify the leading trainer around regional centres would they attract the best horses to their stable from the locals?

Matthew Dunn, for example, is rapidly rising through the trainer ranks in Brisbane but trains about 50 horses at Murwillumbah. His 50 horses account for 70% of all horses trained there at that track. Is he the big fish getting the best horses and does Joe Public take his dominance into account? Could this point us towards a trainer that is in his own Top Stable?
