Davez,

Amen to that topic as far as this punter goes.

You can lead a horse to water...

I think I know what your on about there partypooper

Not trying to preach or anything, it's just my experience that I couldnt consistently make a buck out of this game until I chucked in the eachway, place & exotic betting. I am sure there are plenty of punters around who do very well betting in those ways, just that I could never make them work for me.

when im having a bit of a go, u generally place a bet like

$10 win $20 place, if i feel a good chance
$5 win $25 place, if a bit of a roughy

a small win is better than no win at all

2 little storys, a few months ago i backed hound dog, i had $10 the place,
it won and payed $26 $4 a place

the other day there where 2 outright favs ($3) and the horse i selected ($8.90)
i was up on the day so put $50 on the place, i collected $126 (it actually won), if it was on the win it would have been near $450, then again as the TAB lady said, u came here 4 profit and got it so be happy

jimmy

a small profit is better than a small loss

Well thats one thing that never worried me if I'm backing for the place ... I'm NEVER worried when I hear that callers comment.. when you know your selection is in the perfect possition to go on and WIN the race ,.... i.e. 1st "IS" a place.

So this has drizzled down to basically, ANY odds are acceptable, even place prices for winners, as long as the nag gets home [any price a winner] ?

This ready acceptance of very poor prices, does that come before or after the race [only when the bet turns into a collect] ?

Cheers.

PS. Place prices for winners are fine ?
I've never heard so much crap in my life Partypooper [you should know better].

G'day Crash, (burning the midnight oil I see)
no not really, I usually call it a no bet if not showing $1.30 , 1 minute b4 the off (supertab) but then I bet Sportsbet who pay the best place divi (Supertab/ NSW) this USUALLY keeps me on the right side though as davez says , sometimes u come unstuck with a lousy $1.10 etc ,,, but not that often.

Well, well Party,

No, just got up actually.

Hope you don't mind my edited [rude] comments [before I saw your post] ?

For your eyes only of course, others might think I'm 'aving a go at ya' !!!

Cheers
