Hi all
I have been lurking over the last few months (saving my dollars for the spring)
With the new season I thought it might be time to get some discussion going, and perhaps no better opportunity exists than with the San Domenico Stks.
I am interested in how fellow members assess this race.
We have the 1st, 2nd, and 4th from the Golden Slipper as well as the winner of the Inglis Classic beating the 3rd placegetter in the Slipper. Of course that is past history, but I can't imagine that anything other than Dance Hero will start fav. (and very short at that)
So how do we work out whether there is value in any other horse?
Gai sent Dance Hero around in a trial last week (and it ran the fastest time of the day)
so I presume it is reasonably fit for the 1000metres.
But what about Charge Forward? Remember it beat Dance Hero (3rd) in their first race. O'Shea hasn't given it a trial. What is the significance of this? Is he keeping his powder dry or is he contemplating later races?
The parochial Newcastle media has been sprouting Fastnet Rock on the strength of a strong (supposedly) recent trial win but I believe it will be better over a longer distance.
Then we have Crimson Reign- a filly I have always had a lot of time for- & McLachlan is no fool.
What about the others?
I suspect Savabeel may be out of his depth in this field but he did win over 1000metres at his 1st start at Randwick by 4.5L
Finally we have Clarry Conner's lightly raced
Braveheart- ran 4th in listed race over 1000metres to Not a Single Doubt then put away. Was this a deliberate ploy injury or shin soreness?
Come on all you punters. Tell me what you think will win, or not win, and more particularly WHY?
My view?
I think I will have a small wager on Charge Forward to repeat his first start win.
Cheers

I am a huge Fastnet Rock fan but I think they will be a bit to sharp for him over 1000m can't wait to see him get over a bit more ground later see if he has improved or not.

Hard to see much troubling Dance Hero but if I had to pick now I would go with Charge Forward.

How anyone could tip against Dance Hero is beyond me.The others won't blow wind up his ********.Yes,Charge Forward beat him first up,but always remember that the great Kingston Town ran last at his first start. This horse was one of the greatest 2YOs this country has ever seen.If he comes up as a 3YO he could be anything. He can consistently reel off incredible sectionals and just grinds his opponents into the turf.
Champion is a tag that is too often bandied around, but I really believe this horse will prove that he is just that this time in.My opinion only.

Purple I do agree with what you say but I cannot call any horse trained by Gai Waterhouse a champion I just cannot I hate the woman that much it isnot funny.

That is a great horse I will leave it at that.

I think fastnet rock is the one to be watching...used to do everything wrong in his races but now if he puts it all together could figure in some big races..

Can't wait till see how Dance Hero has come up.,

Also "Delzao" is my tip to come back a super star this spring.
