Can anybody with a database tell me the returns of backing the 2nd favourite and also the 3rd favourite on the home tote.....? (Gallops, all meetings....)

While not precisely answering your question my earlier table gave a tote favourite returns summary.

It concluded the 4th favourite gave the best return.

Suggesting the more popular runners were overbacked.

These days with instant cross-betting I don't think "Home Tote" is that significant.
