Smile A day at the races.

I was thinking that it's about time I went to see my first metro races (only races I've ever been to was up in Echuca), and seeing how it's supposed to be a nice day tomorrow here in Melbourne (Fine and 26), I've decided to head on down to Sandown tomorrow. I'm really looking forward to seeing some live metro racing, and it would be nice if I can come home a few dollars richer too (have to see how my system holds up). Anyone got any tips that they would care to share?

I have a few stupid questions to ask? Does anyone know what time tracks normally open to the public? Is there much to see or do at the track before the races get under way? What I'm getting at, is it worthwhile getting there much earlier than the start of the first race? And what is meant by an "on the rails" bookie?
