Default Neural Magic - NOT

I thought the neurals had some basis in logic but I can't trace any in one of today's races. Race 2 Mortlake, horse number 7 Tango Close has a Current Form rating of 81 on the default settings. The next best horse has a rating of 12. Well, I thought this'll be a shoe in.
I started to get suspicious when the price was 20 - $30 for the win so I looked at it's form. I've got it as only managing a 3rd in a race worth half the value of today's and other than that it's best finish in 5 races was 7th.
The other nags weren't brilliant but some had better stats than Tango Close, an opinion the majority of punters seemed to share with me.
My faith in neurals has just nosedived.
