Ipswich Cup Day tips
Race 1: Wings of Seraph for me looks the one here this is not a real strong race and he is in on the minimum my main worry would be what sort of odds might be available on this guy here especially with Byrne booked for the ride he should get every chance to wipe this lot out. I would want atleast $5 to even get interested here for this race and Wings of Seraph is clearly the one here forgiving the last run on a slow track.
Race 2: Nightmare of a race this one with an absolute stack of speed on this one is set up for something to fly home late even at ipswich the likely candidates being Socialist, Braebrook, Blood 'n' Bone and Coccolare which one gets there 1st is going to be hardest to work out. Socialist does apear to be solidly weighted in this race as does Blood 'n' Bone both of them have ability on there day but the same can also be said for Braebrook and Coccolare but I never seem to be able o catch the later. I do like Socialist as a horse and feel this distance might suit better for him than Blood 'n' Bone with Nolan on board and a good weight i expect him to be in the finish. Race 3: Willing to give this race a miss betting wise but if forced to make a selection might go with Silvan Prince for a bit of value. No Bet Race. Race 4: Another race I amnot keen on from a betting stadpoint but I don't mind the look of Albert Cadabra and Craiglea Charm for a bit of fun anyway also used to be a fan of Winauras but it would need to have improved to pull this off 1st up. No Bet Race Race 5: Single Rose will start fav but I am very confident this one is beatable Reverenza is all quality and has enough to knock this lot off no worries at all I don't feel she is badly weighted for this event only having to give 3kgs to the bottom weights, Diamond Cove would have be considered a chance as it has always been considered to have some ability and I can see Lesmartre possibly figuring in the finish with a great barrier and very good jockey on top in Bowditch. Reverenza is clearly the horse to beat here just a matter of whether or not the Ipswich track is to tight for her I really do like Lesmartre as an e/w prospect aswell has a good record at the trip and could get a nice run around 5th or 6th in running. Race 6: I know they have stepped this race up in distance but a similar result to the last couple of years won't shock me seeing 6 or 7 horses across the track right on the line, Vocalic is not a horse I have followed but at the $31 on offer last night looking at it's last run i thought it was simply impossible to ignore for this race a similar ride and a similar effort could see this horse take this race out, There are a boat load of horses I could mention here but I will keep this short as possible, Mr. Hornblower is always a chance in these races he is consistent and is capable of pulling this off without question, Storm Signal is drawn to get a beatiful run for Nolen and Moody on what might not be the hottest speed going around and is simply a must include here the other i wouldn't leave out is Amyjaye Power I know she has had some issues but her runs in queensland has been great and she is in this race upto her eyeballs. happy to have a go with Vocalic here and might have a biton something else will wait till tomorrow and see how the track is racing before committing there would probably lean to Amyjaye Power and Storm Signal. Race 7: There are only a couple of horses I would want anything to do with here Sculptor is going to be hard to beat I still feel he would have been right in the cup last week if not for the massive blunder at the start, Exalted Time is a tough old ************ who can sit on the speed and just keep going might prove hard to run down here, The other I don't mind is Authoress the Brian Guy Jim Byrne combo has me intrigued here and this does look like it might be an improving type of horse worth taking a look at. Sculptor is hard to go past especially with Innes replacing McKeon not sure what odds will be there but I doubt he goes below $5 not sure this is a race for value but if I had to Authoress might be worth a bit of a saver wait and see what the odds present. Race 8: I hope I am winning by this stage as this race looks like it should be off limits to me Mosta House if value might be worth considering but I would rather leave it alone another i thought was a real rough chance could be Westbury Ridge but certainly not one i would want to put my last on. Really not all that interested in this one Good luck for the day guys looks a solid betting day in Ipswich certainly some big fields there to generate some value. |
