Default Consensus Ratings - NOVEMBER 2007

There are no ratings for tonight's meeting at Moonee Valley. It's a poor class meeting and there are a lack of suitable races for rating. I don't really see the point in having this meeting actually on the night before the biggest meeting of the year.

Instead I thought I'd explain something about the ratings in case anybody was wondering about it. I'm talking about the C/W RT and FRM RT selections at the bottom of each race.

C/W RT is simply short for Class & Weight Ratings and FRM RT is short for Form Ratings. And without going into too much detail, these two ratings methods are combined to make up the final rating for each horse.

Here's an example:

Quote:
MVAL 6 (AAMI VASE)
RT . ODDS . HORSE
33 . $3.0 . 2 BARBARICUS
30 . $3.3 . 1 MARCHING
12 . $8.3 . 3 DAVCON
10 . $10.0 . 12 THESANDMANCAN
10 . $10.0 . 6 KIBBUTZ
3 . $33.3 . 5 ON THE WARPATH
-----
2 . $50.0 . 7 PROTESTA
1 . $100.0 . 9 BEST BEWARE
1 . $100.0 . 13 TRULY BEAUTIFUL

C/W RT: 1 MARCHING ( 1-2-6-3 )
FRM RT: 2 BARBARICUS ( 2-12-1-3 )

MULTIS: ( 1,2,3,6,12 ) OR ( 1,2 – 1,2,3,5,6,7,12 )

What that means is that in the Class & Weight Ratings method I use, Marching came out on top from numbers 2, 6 and 3. Meanwhile, in the Form Ratings method, Barbaricus came out on top from 12, 1 and 3. Then, when the ratings from the two methods were combined, Barbaricus came out just on top from Marching.

Hope that explains it.
