Smile Efficient and Yeats

Hey guys, i am an avid formguide reader , and having gone through the melbourne cup field, i reckon that yeats and efficient have not run good enough times over any distance to feature in the finish. Efficient especially, should be 100/1 rather than 8/1...
what do you guys think?
My tips are:
Win - Tawqeet, Pop Rock
Place (Roughie) - Kerry O'Reilly
E/W - Maybe Better... He has run the best time over 2500m out of anyone in this years field and has drawn a great barrier with a generous weight
Cheers Guys!

Hi tmathe,

If you want to calculate by speed, Pop Rock has a better time compare to Maybe Better. 2-33.1 vs 2.35.86 but on weight term is 54Kg vs 57Kg. that in Japan vs Australia.

Watch the times from Japan the clock doesn't start until something like 20 metres into the race so the have a start on the clock meaning they already have a head of steam up when the clock starts rolling, Or atleast this is what I have heard and the sources are usually fairly reliable.

I agree on Yeats and his times he has run they are terribly slow has to put some sort of query over the horse doesn't it.

What do you blokes think about Dolphin Jo?

When it won at Flemington, what distance was it over? Where can I obtain this information from?

Cheers

I had a bit on Railings at the $34 they offered the first weekend of betting and that is the only bet I have had for the cup this year it is a tough race to sort out so far this year in years past I had a fair idea what I was backing for the cup a month or so before hand this year might be a that day decision they are a very even bunch of horses IMO whoever gets the right run will probably win if they can stay at all.

If someone held a gun to my head and asked for selections I guess I would go with something like this

Railings
On A Jeune
Tawqeet
Pentane
Art Success

only bet I've had so far in this is Yeats (like many other punters already)
concerned with the off-again on-again intention of running in the big one as well as the procrastinated trip to get here also the jockey saga.....I've looked at Railings (great chance in CC) but his 14th in last years MC has put me off...On A Jeune, Tawqeet do look genuine chances...although Art Success is a 2 mile winner the MC will be a huge class rise on that win...will have some on the lightly raced Pentane his Auckland Cup win was outstanding and in addition he is a son of Pentire, who is also the sire of Xcellent who ran 3rd in last years MC

Don't worry about Railings last year he got blocked that many times at the top of the straight he had no chance was one of the few you cou8ld have made an excuse for last year the other was the runner up On A Jeune who got the run that Railings was still trying to get after being held up for about 100m
