Thumbs down Rosehill races off

Today’s race meeting at Rosehill has been called off after Equine Influenza was confirmed as reaching Warwick Farm.

1200 horses now have the flu. 5/1 says it'll beat the Melb. Cup into Victoria.

It must have been a line ball....

Had they sent Warwick Farm horses to Rosehill today which were already incubating the virus,it would have affected the Rosehill horses.

Rob Waterhouse reported this in another forum at 3am this morning. So it's clear that the principals in the racing industry had a sleepless night awaiting confirmation of tests.

Makes you wonder whether or not containment is a realistic policy.

If it can't be contained in a QUARANTINE CENTRE for $&*% sake, then how did they ever expect to contain the thing out in the open. They should just open up the borders, allow horses to be moved freely, and let the virus run it's course. It's so frigging contagious, you'd think it could cover Australia in a month. Then couldn't everyone get on with it. It seems trying to contain it is just going to prolong the agony for the industry. I think the virus will be in Victoria before the Melbourne Cup, and even if it isn't, the race is hardly up to par with so many quality horses missing.
