I'd be interested to know people's thoughts on Shoot Out after yesterday's Cox Plate. His last 3 runs have indicated to me he wants further and $21 for the Cup looks tasty at this stage. Has won to 2400m but the 3200 is always a query. In saying that I thought it was a super Cup trial.

So You Think's run was deceptive from a Cup perspective. He took off at the 800m, so as Arnold advised he was probably entitled to peak on his run before the line. Bart will have him rock hard fit with one more run in the Mackinnon and he seems to settle so beautifully these days, I'm loathe to tip against him.

Sifting through the Cup chances, I'd be wary of sacking Alcopop after one average run on a bog track in the Caulfield Cup. If he gets conditions up to slow, he'd have to be a massive chance with 53.5 kilos.

In saying all that, Shocking's run in the Caulfield Cup was MASSIVE.

Ah, the beauty of the racing game......

bart is still looking to run so you think in the mackinnon..before a melbourne cup start..

..if so..will he be flat chat in the mackinnon..?

..and how well will he back-up for the cup..potentially his 3rd start in 11 days..

I'm also interested to see how So You Think will run in the Mackinnon and especially where he will settle in the run. Bart's team said 'he's won every race this prep that we've set him for'. Will they simply give him a training run in the Mackinnon and we see him 'get held up at a vital stage'? Class may still prevail, though I very much doubt Bart would want to have him sitting on the speed if they do go ******** for leather up front.

Very, very interesting...

I feel the same way. His best runs have always been on a big track. Came home well in the Cox considering the fast last 600m. He just seems to love racing Shoot Out, & Im convinced the High Chapperals will run the distance.

I took $31 e/w a couple of weeks back for shoot out for the cup thought that looked good value at the time I also put on a little $10 e/w bet on cedarberg today at $331 I know he has a tough chance making the field but if he does there are worse chances out there that is for sure

I meant to mention I still feel that Monaco Consul is a chance in the race his run in the coalfield cup was good took off 1000 from home and was well and truly entitled to die on his run won't take the $19 on offer right as I reckon better will be on offer race day but definitely worth an e/w ticket
