For a guy who doesnt normally play on sundays I have had a lot of fun and made more money than yesterday...go figure. was a nice way to pass the time at work....just using the Qld tab top 3 ratings and applying my saturday rules.

That "outsider" program looks to be something to be wary of with 1400m races.....fought two of my selections right to the line today..score :1 all.

Flying Grange was my big go..close but no cigar.. however Redgumwon, and later Edge of the Storm ( a horse I should not have backed..(2nd up from a spell) a mistake ,but it lobbed at 12.00 IAS fixed and Fangsforthe memories was tabqld rating value at 9.00 ias fixed. Two of those winners were drifters., and I missed the best price to begin with, but went back for more after they each drifted a point..its a practice Ive used for years and I cant tell you how often I win even more money that way...so much for winning shortners eh?

some days you make a mistake (like yesterday..keyboard error had me plonk the wrong horse on iasbet) and lose...other days you make a mistake and win.
Thats racing...It all evens out in the end I reckon..
see you next time..

Hi Sportz, speaking of Unitab ratings ( I was told that they are actually the Mark Read ratings).

has anyone else got an opinion on the following observation?

There doesnt seem to be much, if any, correlation between the unitab ratings (M Read(?) and the Iasbet opening prices (M Read) on offer..

recent examples include Brindabella 41.00 on offer and yesterday Redgumwon a top rated horse on unitab that Iasbet laid at very generous odds ..... Flying Grange was another top rated horse yesterday that IASbet offered very generous odds about... right to the jump ...while the price shortened considerably elsewhere....

If I did the ratings for a TAB and also ran a betting agency...surely i would keep my top rated horses safe by not offering overly generous odds about them.... even after taking into account that I am trying to set a book, and some of the prices I offer are to offset bets on other runners...

This observation is leading me to think that perhaps IASbet and Unitab are completely unrelated...the person rating the unitab selections and the person setting the iasbet book are completely different entities...

I welcome any input on this...

I don't know where that idea came from. I don't think Mark Read has anything to do with them. I think you'll find they use a formula something like AAP's neural algorithms.

Hi Sportz, thanks for that feedback... I think it was Baghwan who told me that...I am pretty much convinced now that the two are unrelated. Its always good to know where things come from...

All the very best
