Hi, Sportz.

I've been randomly looking at your ratings for some time now and notice when there are 6 horses in the top section that there is a good strike rate for boxed quinellas.

For example, there were 5 such races today for 4 successful quinellas. The total outlay was $75 for a return of $140 (Unitab divvies).

Do you keep records of your selections? And if so, do you know how boxed quinellas have fared?

No, I haven't kept records of that. I did notice that it worked today though and I wouldn't be surprised if it was successful. (there have been some big trifectas and first 4s won by boxing up the 6 horses above the line)

However, today might have been a bit of a one off because it was a pretty open sort of day. If you had the first 2 favs running the quinella a lot, I don't think you'd be able to make a profit.

I will eventually get around to doing a full review of the ratings (I'm currently working on a review of the Greyhound ratings), so if you're patient, I'll get back to you on this idea.

As a matter of interest, I have been using your selections in a Lay system. If a horse that you haven't selected in your top six has a Lay price of $11 or less then I lay it. So far so good.

Not only that, but I do believe I managed to find 5 trifectas and 4 first4s from the 6 races.

Don't expect days like that all the time, Michael!!! It won't happen!

Yes, there have been some days that have not performed too well, but from the random days I've looked at I would not be surprised if quinellas were in profit. I too noticed yesterday that trifectas and first fours did very well, but I'm more interested in quinellas because of the higher strike rate and the lower TAB takeout.

Hopefully your full review of the ratings will show them worthwhile.
