Certainly beats what I came home with that is for sure the pockets were empty mind you when it was about $25 a shout with only 3 of us there that was going to chew into the funds in a hurry aswell. Unfortunately the bad loss on cup day made it hard to win to well today due to basically no bank at all managed to have a couple of dollars e/w on Apaiser but geez it would have been nice to be able to have a decent bet on it.

Speculate to accumalate......umm, my wife thinks that $5000 would last me a whole year on the punt!!

She is seldom amazed that I can turn $50 into $1000's and I throw her $200!
She doesn't realise I bet $500 to $1000 to get that return.

She reads this and I'm divorced!

My theory about Melbourne Cup Day - based on my recollection of the day - therefore no form analysis/ratings/media tips etc etc are used - ......is that there is always an Adelaide horse (or has Adelaide form - not strong I know) that wins one of the lead up races to the CUP - and I'm open to scrutiny here, beacuse as I have said i haven't bothered proving the theory, sufice to say money in my pocket is the evidence I have.

I agree with all of the above, incl the Adelaide theory..... The trouble with Melb Cup day is that all that money slushing around in the win pools is oh so tempting..

Harry, enjoyed your story..good on you for getting the tri...shame you cant talk her in to the old "you gotta speculate to accumulate" way of thinking and re invest some of the spoils ...lol

this happened to me on cup day,put all my bets on its never a real good day for me anyway so i allways tread lightly....a mate comes around and said lets go to the pub and put a bet on the cup so thought i would put 25ew on cianara for my kids,so the race is run and i thought i had 50 each for the kids bank acc but ************ me if i MT instead of MR and that was the nyha trots it gave me the ****s that i could not get my cash back,so the bet stood and the ****** thing won at $21 so the kids ended up with $735....and my wife thinks im a genuis..

Well, we just got home from Melbourne...after the Benicio/Makybe double saluted at 403 to 1 the rest of the week was a bit of a blur lol....went nuts when the mare got up, woke up to ourselves when we realised that OAJ was worth $11k more than what we pocketed and how close it was but it was worth $11k just to see it...all in all a great ****** week! Now to start giving some back tomorrow. Giddy up.

What the? Kanga can you please explain?

From looking at your post it looks like you had doubles of On a Juene in the Geelong Cup into on a juene in the melbourne cup. Which to me is a loser??

Whats the go?

RD - you are correct, that double was a loser. Benicio into Diva was a very good win but in my earlier post i said OAJ was a better result. I posted those bets after the Geelong Cup so I cut and pasted them for ya to explain what OAJ was...

this was a little better tho mate lol..

VDrby BENICIO ($101.00) : MlbCp MAKYBE DIVA ($4.00)
x 10.00 at $404.00 = $4040.00

cheers...
