topys99, think you'll find that the tab's are only under review with a view to going out to tender at some later stage. the current operators have licences to 2012. |

Not if you are an owner of a horse im not sure many 12 yolds going around at tab meetings. Finding it hard to find a race for a mare who has won 2 country cups and by cutting races arent going to make it any easier. |

Not so sure that texas holdem will do as you state davez. There was an article in one of the newspapers recently & it stated that online poker is the most corrupt of all the online gambling available. The fact is that those humans that particiapate could be playing against a table full of bot (robots) which have the capacity to work out millions of calcuations in a second or so giving the human little chance of winning. There are programs such as WinHoldEm that are capable of playing at five tables at the one time making as much as $275 per hour for their operators. It's possible for instance for a human to be playing against five bots all operated by the one user. If that's the case then many people would soon tire of getting ripped off by a computer & look elsewhere for their gambling experience. |

What is the difference between TVN and SKY Racing?

sounds like winholdem is not a viable tool on many sites with account closures & balance forfeitures if detected.
anyway i have probably overstated my feelings about pokers affect on the racing industry (whenever the sky/tvn issue comes up i instantly see red). however there is no doubt that online poker is growing at phenomenal rate & many young (& probably old) potential punters are & will see it as a more accessible & enjoyable gambling option. but of course racing doesnt need to be concerned with other industries causing it grief, it is managing to do that to itself quite nicely when one considers the market saturation, sydneys demise, & the sky/tvn fiasco & god knows what else. |

austar has a contract to show only sky channel.
tvn (thoroughvision) wont sell their product (vic racing and sydney racing) to sky so as a result austar viewers cant watch sky. tvn think that sky dont pay enough for the racing product so went on their own. eventually it will lead to a drop in turnover at the t.a.b. and then consequentially a drop in distribution and a drop in prizemoney.

You can not watch Melbourne/Sydney races on Sky Channel? Is this true?
What about big events such as Australia Cup? Golden Slipper? Melbourne Cup? Can you at least watch these meetings on Sky Channel? |

12 year old Mighty Way went around at Colac Sunday at his 2nd run back since a 1115 day spell. A disgrace as far as I'm concerned and does not do much for the image of racing. Worse still, around $100-00 was invested on the horse for a win, and it was only around 16/1 for the place. In an earlier life this grand old horse had won $300,000-00 and should be enjoying retirement. Surely there is a great chance that a horse of this age could severely break down or drop dead in a field with dire consequences. |
