im sure a few of them had it, and didnt it pay well $2180!! I was very impressed with Rumbird, Nova star was making alot of ground on it and went past it, but as soon as it did Rumbird seemed to find another leg. Very good, and one to watch for sure!!

Ugly ugly ugly.....no last race winners at some country track to dig me out of a hole today,,,
Started well with Greccolo ,,,ice chariot and Granzig all good results.....even a few trifectas here and there...
but all in all way to many place getters ,,,and the Consular result was devastating...had a stack on ...

wouldnt believe how close i was to the 1st4 in the big one....Allow , vietnam,,,but that dam Pavlova thing killed me....had stars in flight as well..
one of those days...

had a good run on the Saturdays for awhile so shouldnt be to upset...cant win them all..... 3 from 16 isnt good enough if your not getting the big divies..

will watch the replays again tomorrow and mention the good runs...

Hope you guys had a good one always next week..

Hey Mav,

From a betting perspective, that was awful. I wasn't even close on most of the races. Luckily, past experience has told me not to bet too much on Oaks day (have been for the past 4 years, and haven't come out with a win on any of them). Good quality fields though, and i will have some more comments tomorrow when i've had a chance to look at some replays.

Was there a strong headwind in the straight? In the QTC Cup(R7) the sectional was 36.7, maybe Country Serb went too hard in front.

A swings and slides day. Had a solid bet on Ice Chariot. It did what I expected and fell asleep at the rear and 12 lengths off them until it was time to light the rockets at the final turn. What a sprint !
Scored a nice earn on Countess batharoy at 9/1 too, but gave a fair bit back to Game On in the last. Silly boy.

Bad day for me really and had that feeling before the races started

Race 1: Backed Rumbird and it ran well win would have been nice but picked up a little on the e/w bet

Race 2: Backed Show Biz Kid and talked myself out of Magic Marvo that horse is sacked once and for all I think that might have been the most gut wrenching result of the day for me would have really sent me of for a decent day with that win. Loss

Race 3: This turned out to be a really bad race for me Pentelikon was awful might be something wrong with that horse other than the obvious, I ended up having an e/w bet on Serenote as I felt it was unbelievable odds thought it was going to run a place for awhile but couldn't get there wasn't a bad run though. took a quinella with Countess Bathory, Serenote, Pentelikon and Love Money only to have that one blow up on me. I had a pretty good go at this race and really blew my ass on it. Big Loss

Race 4: Was worried about the odds in which Master Denis was paying they were to good and it made me back right off on my bet thankfully I did when are they going to ride this horse off the pace they won't see his best until they do I don't think. Loss

Race 5: had a bit of a bet on Invault who had a torrid wide run and thought he run very well considering, didn't back anything else unfortunately was close to taking Danleigh just didn't do it. Loss

Race 6: This was always going to be a bad race had a bit on both Magic Harmony and Kruger Valley, Magic Harmony was slaughtered by Steven King very strange ride on a horse that hasn't been near the lead in any race it has competed in. Kruger Valley no excuse really might not have gotten a run exactly when it wanted to but had every single hope. Loss

Race 7: Had a bit on Legendary Man, Consular and e/w on Spuruson this race was never going to be a good result for me was it picked up a little on the placing of Spuruson but lost anyway. Small Loss

Race 8: Backed Art Success here and was confident when they were turning for home didn't see Mahtoum coming either wasn't a bad run but it didn't do me any favors. Bad Loss

Outside of Brissie got a nice win out of Dyna Myta in Melbourne and a good placing out of Hillston Exchange couldn't believe it's odds again, Double Dare wasn't a bad place result dry track he wins in my opinion and Akhaton nearly got there for me in Adelaide not quite though.

Hi all,

Was an enjoyable days racing yesterday apart from the betting. Its good to see all the good ones in the flesh .

Race 1 - Solid win from Grecolo, lived up to his run behind La Montagna. Has always had good ability and its nice to see him get one of these bigger 3yo races. Thought Funlove was a massive run. Missed the start so was effectively out of it from then, but really got to the line well late and will be winning one soon. Nova Star obviously got to the line well but shes not one of mine. Might be able to get away with an easier 3yo races sometime soon.

Race 2 - They went insane out in front here so most of these were in struggle town a long way out. Sphenophyta was a top run coming from the tail, nice stayer in the making for mine. Not much else to report (maybe Benedetti, for sticking on near the speed for the duration). The winner of that race should not be exempt from the Straddy...its a joke.

Race 3 - Well, winners keep winning. Countess Bathory, another strong performance. I thought she was a risk in the big field at EF but they just couldn't go near her. Geelong Magestique was a nice run too, getting home along the rails at big odds. Again, not much else to note....only that the winner was dominant and the others really had their chance. Villa Bled got home well again, but she will do that 99 times out of 100 and drive you mad in the process.

Race 4 - What can you say. Ice Chariot was just far too good. Gave them a start and ran straight past them. Prend was disappointing and i seem to have overestimated her . Not much else to note here, Master Denis, i would think, you be better off being ridden from just off them pace. Derby doesn't look overly strong this year, though, in my view.

Race 5 - Danleigh was very impressive here. Just flew home. Gold Edition put up a strong performance to just go down. I didn't think she'd get a strong 1400m, but she ran very well. Pure Energy, as predicted a while back, needs a rest. Eye Eye Silver was a really good effort for a C1 horse, getting home from the tail too. One to watch in slightly easier races over ground. Ghetto Blaster didn't flatten out in the straight and might need a spell - we've seen the last of him i think, going to HK if plans havent changed.

Race 6 - Allow was very good. A few got home at the end like Vietnam, Stars In Flight, Pavlova and Sunday Adieu (good effort) but Allow was holding them on the line. Given the recent performances from QLD Oaks winners i'm reluctant to say that she'll go on, but suffice it to say it was a nice effort. Pavlova was deep during the race, which makes her effort look pretty good though. Good luck to those who got the nice 1st 4 dividend .

Race 7 - Messiaen seems to be one of those horses who just seems to get under the guard of most people. His last run behind Hard To Catch at the Gold Coast was very good and certainly would indicate he was better than a 20-1 shot. Not sure hes a Straddy horse, but he deserves his shot after winning in that sort of style yesterday. Natural Blitz was a very nice return and there is a race for him soon if the weather stays OK.

Race 8 - Art Success is a huuuge chance in the cup after that effort. It will top him off perfectly and he drops 6 or 7 kilos or something for the race...he is the only one i'd like to be on. While Mahtoum was a good result, Art Success meets him better at the weights and i'd say will relish the 3200m. Gorgeous George was a bold attempt to lead all the way and nearly came off (i wish it had ) and from what the trainer said he will benefit greatly from the run.

All in all, a good days racing. The Straddy meetings next week will be great too. Altho the field doesn't look quite as strong as in recent years, itll still be a great sight.

Sven

I still havent checked the video yet ,,,to depressing..

Had wins on Greccolo and Ice Chariot,,,but after giving Allow and Messian good chances ,,, i feel i missed the boat somehow..

Messian and Countess Bathory were both responsible for good collects for me of late and i left them alone ???

Oh well,,it seems i wasnt the only one yesterday with no shirt on,.,...but we'll get them back next week..
ALready have bets on St BAsil, La Montagna and DAunting LAd.The LAd is actually 40/1 now ???has he lost a leg or something...if he draws well hes right in this race....i'll wait till the barrier draw and see what happens...Hard to catch is the one im most scared of,,at 9's i might talk myself into backing him aswell.....not often infact ever i've had 4 horses in the one race...
murphy's law might come into it

I know how you feel mate, messaien is one of the horses i back very regularly, but for some reason didnt yesterday. I forgot it was even running. Got a rude reminder as they crossed the finish line though with $26 flashing up on the screen. I backed Top marc at huge odds, and thought it was a hope somewhere along the straight, just seemed to get boxed in along the fence behind a couple of horses dropping back.

Had Geelong Majestique earlier in the day, couldnt believe the odss it was at, it has been racing very well down south for a while. Although it didnt finish in the top 3 it will be one to watch over the coming weeks.

Horse Whisperer I to had a long look at Geelong Magestique at the odds have a bit of time for the horse but she does seem to produce her best results on wet ground guess you could also say the samething about Top Marc he is just about ready to wn a race I feel not sure how close he would have gotten on Saturday but he certainly suffered a little interference.
