Disadvantages of betting with the TAB: Slightly lower payout [2 cents divvy mostly] but often more divvy bet payout during the week because of the 'smoke and mirrors' trick of 'better than 2 totes [only]' used by ALL agencies on all days except Saturdays. Often it is YOUR regular tote that is the 3rd. one that is paying more !!
Average it out at the end of the week and it is a bit of a con job for the smallish punter [they are 99% of the customers]. The $ difference is pathetic and absolute peanuts when considering an overall small weekly profit or loss % of turnover for a 12mth. period.

HI!
Totally agree Crash.
I stated this very fact last year and was poo-pooed down. Yet I have two years of meticulously kept records, showing that you and I are right. the difference in return (if any) are so miniscule that the convenience of using the TAB far outweighs them.
Not to mention they don't restrict your bets!!!!!
Incidentally I started compering Vic and NSW TAB's long before the online agencies existed and the results were exactly the same, (didn't bother with the smaller TABs).
I think it is like the phenomenon, that we always remember a big win or bigger return but forget when we have been short changed. Only by keeping good records can prove this one way or the other.
And NO I do not have shares in any TAB
Cheers

Sure, I was expecting some anecdotal examples of when wins were much better than tote, but never a word about the [many] times of getting less payout than your local tote [especially during the week]. Swings and slides.

I've had 4 accounts over the years with NT agencies, 2 of them for 5yrs.
Anyone who has kept records and gone to the trouble to compare totals will have drawn the same conclusions you and I have lomaca about things evening out. Punters who can win are not wanted by agencies either. They restrict or won't accept bets from, or straight out ban winning punters.
