lomaca, just to clarify where I'm coming from, I don't consider 2kg as any sort of advantage at all ..... 2kg's as a percentage of a horse that weighs 500kgs is 0.4%, less than half of one percent.

That was my point exactly, many punters work themselves into a lather about a piffling weight difference and probably ignore more important items.
Yes, when the top weight, or any horse, has to carry more than 3-4 Kg than the next horse, then I take notice, but even so many times they win.
As a matter of fact, win more often than they supposed to with lugging around that amount of wgt.
(this is because the handicapper is constrained by the top and minimum wgt! restrictions)
