There is also a problem with scratchings and getting accurate barrier data.

I think barrier statistics have to be refined somewhat.

Divided into track & distance
and statistics on front runners from wide barriers and backmarkers from inside barriers.

Other factors that affect the stats are movable rails.

Chrome Prince,

Couldn't agree with you more... I only consider barriers for lead or on-pace horses in fields of more than 10.

Other than that I believe barriers to be of no importance.
