Thanks for the wishes everyone, I hope I didnt sway anyone to put their house on him!

Unfortunately as you most likely saw things didnt go quite as well as we hoped. I don't think the rain helped too much, as well as the weight first up. Maxie is getting the old chop today to try to help him settle down, he almost jumped out of the barrier!

He jumped out very well and led round the turn but was racing very erratically. Larry Cassidy told us that he wont win a race until they give him the chop so that is what is happening today. Interesting thing is that in every private trial Maxie has beaten all of Rogerson's other horses, including Subreilly and Svenska so hopefully the chop will settle him down come race day. Best case scenario is to run Maxie again in 3 weeks, i'll keep you posted.

Anyway it wasnt all bad, watching Maxie come last didnt put me in the mood to punt for the rest of the day, and looking at the results I'm glad I didnt! Also watching a horse you have a share in, even getting pipped on the post to miss the $900 5th place prize, is unbelievable nonetheless!

Cheers

HI SHOEIN

I WATCHED THE RACE AND I FELT HE WAS VERY ERRATIC AND THAT HE DID NOT APPEAR TO HANDLE THE WET. HAVING HIM GELDED IS THE MOST SENSIBLE THING AS YOU WANT HIM TO CONCENTRATE ON RACING NOT OTHER THINGS. DON'T BE DISCOURAGED IT WAS ONLY HIS FIRST RUN HE HAS A LONG WAY TO GO YET, AND A LOT TO LEARN. HE TIRED SIMPLY BECAUSE HE WENT SO FIERCELY. IF HE HAS SHOWN POTENTIAL IN HIS TRIALS HE WILL EVENTUALLY GET IT ALL TOGETHER IN A RACE AND REMEMBER FIRST TIME AT THE RACES FOR THE BABIES GETS THEM ALL STIRRED UP WITH THE ATMOSTPHERE AND THE CROWDS. I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO SEEING HIM IN THE WINNERS STALL VERY SOON. BEST OF LUCK

LADY BE GOOD

Yes Shoeln, know how you feel. Our syndicated horse had her 1st start in the middle of November. She had shown ability in trials, was in the market, and was even a 'late whisper'. Never been so nervous / excited ever!
But, alas, first raceday, she literally 'blew up', got excited, missed the jump, bolted clear, raced 4 deep, totally ridden upside down!
It definitley is a waiting game.....

Shoein.

Anyone who wants to knock your horses efforts, tell them I once saw a horse in sydney in the late 1970's, get beaten without a lie, 200 yds in a Canterbury 2yo after winning 3 trials.

They gelded him, a month later he ran and no horse has ever got near him sine. K.T were his nitials.

if anyone doubts this check the records, keep your chin up, you never know

Gday MyHatMyCoat,

Sorry for the late reply, have been on holidays in the country and getting all the good oil on the smart country horses on the way to the big smoke.

Haven't had many updates from Rogerson regarding Maxie which I am not too impressed about (haven't had an e-mail update since late Nov/early Dec). He was apparently due for a trial in early January but obviously this has not happened as yet. Have been searching on the net every day to see if he's in the nominations. Last I heard from Rogerson he apparently pulled up well after being gelded and was resting up in the paddock. All I tend to see these days are bills rather than e-mail updates.

Will post as soon as I find out when/if Maxie is trialling.

Cheers
