I read that the last VRC Derby winner (Elvestroem) to back up the next year and win the Caulfield Cup was in the 1920's, and that no Epsom winner (Desert War) has won. I hope those 2 can read.

Hello
Following on from my recent post where I hypothesised that the caulfield cup winner had on average over the past 40 years 9 letters in its name and Elvstroem duly won,I decided to do the same for Melbourne cup and the average for the last 40 years is 9.09 letters rounded down equals 9 letters
So looking at the current market and taking ELVSTROM out because he is not running we are left with
VINNIE ROE
PENTASTIC
UPSETTHYM
Pentastic has been a bit lacklustre but does like Flemington
VINNIE ROE is a class act but will only run if the track is not too firm
UPSETTHYM didnt inspire much confidence
in the Caulfield cup sowe are left with
VINNIE ROE (if he runs)
Cheers
