Well said Shaun. If the rain never came Makybe Diva still would of been there, no so sure about Vinnie Roe. The best horse won.

Mr Ed,
Yes I did back Makybe Diva BUT I also had the trifecta, so had Vinnie Roe won I would of won a lot more from the reversal of the first 2 places than I won on Makybe Diva.

So there you go.

Not talking from my pockets.

Intersting to see how Makybe Diva goes overseas. I'm guessing connections would be over the moon if she's even half as succesful as Vinnie has been over there.

and i agree swap runs and Makybe loses. everyones just to emotional to see it how it was. Shocking ride and you can bet if that was boss you'd be bagging him relentlessly.

People saying Makybe Diva is a better horse than Lets elope RIDICULOUS ! maybe a better 2 miler but not a better horse.

IMO she is the best 2 mile horse I have seen that was trained in this country for her to do what she has done is an amazing effort. Will be interesting indeed to see how she goes in a race like the Arc I would be surprised to see her win a race like that but it would be great and it might get some credibility for our stayers over here which right is lacking.

Wouldnt it be great if we took a team of horses over there.
Makybe Diva
Grey Song
(poor horse cant win anything over here so he might as well..likes the wet)
Zazzman
(seems the type of horse that suits there type of race pattern ..likes to lead and grind away and also cost me and half the country the trifecta so i just dont like him anymore)
Hard to get
( no point staying here they'll find some other donkey out there to ballot him out..)

I love Zazzman. He was the only reason I came out in front on the Trifecta. Had Elvstroem ran 3rd I reckon I would of barely broke even.
I had 3 trifectas (Half units = $198 total for the 3) that make it so if any 2 of the 3 horses I selected run a place then I get the Tri. If all 3 run places then I get it 3 times.
Vinnie Roe, Makybe Diva, Distinction

paid $1256.55 for a half unit.

It's always nice to hypothesise about who would have won had there been a different scenario. Delzao would have won the race if every other horse had to give it 1000 meters head start.

At the end of the day, I think Makybe Diva was the best horse in the race (and yes I had money on Vinnie Roe as well). If you see the way Makybe Diva quickened with about 100 - 200 meters to go and put 2 lengths on Vinnie, only great horses can do that over a 3200m distance. At the finish she was also eased down on the line.

Congrats to her for creating history, after all, it's performances like her's that have made this race so great for so many years.

How can a horse that has won 3 of her last 18 starts be called the greatest mare of all time??

Won 2 Melbourne Cups I hear you say. So did Think Big and Rain Lover. Both carried 2.5kgs or more than MD in their second win so equivalent weight carrying efforts counting the mares allowance. Go find me a racing person who puts RL or TB in their top 25 of all time. You won't.

She is good at what she does - very good. But one dimensional. Let's see her win a 1400m Group One WFA first up in the Autumn and win the Aust Cup by 3.5 lengths under a grip.

Let's Elope still the queen.

Who said that she was better than Let's Elope??
I haven't heard anyone say it. I'm not qualified to comment, just wondering why you are going on about it.
