I like the form out of the race won by Scenic Wells on Boxing Day. It seems to me that both 7. Drunken Joker and 4. Celtic Trial are both very well suited and very well weighted. It's worth noting that Drunken Joker won a 3yo-Group 3 race at this track and distance back in May, and comes into this listed race on the minimum (52kgs), in form and hitting his peak, well-drawn in barrier 5, and again to be ridden by J Stanley who has won 3 times on the gelding.

4. Celtic Trial is now a six-year old but has never raced better. He drops 4kgs from the Scenic Wells race, thereby meeting Drunken Joker 2kgs better.

Additionally, it appears that there will be little pace in the race (lots of get back and run-on types but no leaders) and, if so, that would suit both Drunken Joker and Celtic Trial who can both take up forward positions.

I would back those two, with 3. Show Biz Kid, 6. Top Marc and 9. Little punc amongst the other chances.

8 ALFONSO EW. On the limit, great record this track and distance, good strike rate and draw. 4 starts since a spell, should be ready.
