Well thanks very much!
Somebody appreciates the input of Brumby and I and is labelled "patronising". Coterie rules? |

Perhaps the coterie does rule! I think when we post our thoughts or claims, we should be prepared to have them held up for scrutiny or comment by others. That way we learn. I treat racing as fun but I also feel I can improve upon my own developed angles. For the record I'd like to offer my opinion that the input of Privateer, Placegetter and Brumby always gains my attention because they are CONSISTENTLY informative, thought provoking and often entertaining. Please keep up the high standard!
It's not patronising at all to suggest we can benefit from these guys. I'm already looking at incorporating their good ideas into my systems and methods. Why? Because they are the real deal, not theorists, and definitely their valuable experience should be treated as learning material for beginners. Thanks

Your input, Brumby's input and that of many others are informative and most welcome. It is just that EI after providing a detailed, considered response was personally put down in a manner we consider inappropriate. There was no need for him to be called a "beginner" then told to learn from others (I am not in any way denigrating these persons' postings) with the clear implication that it is needed because he knows very little, being a "beginner". We want to encourage people to post on this Forum, not be hesitant because they fear being ridiculed. [ This Message was edited by: quapi on 2002-06-07 11:45 ] |

Hear, hear!
Understand that my comment was made entirely tongue-in-cheek! There was obviously never any offence intended or taken. |

Thanks, but we can't be too careful just in case.
Apart from the excellent posts another reason the Forum is gaining strongly in popularity is we do not tolerate abuse or ridicule of posters. Persons who do that promptly find they are no longer welcome as guests to post on this Forum. |

in case you wonder about full limit.
he was placed in a good 1600 metre race in august last year at gosford last year and at 25/1 was worth a punt. assuming that the margin was an aberration. i recall a horse in adelaide a few years ago being beaten by 65 lengths and winning next start and old akwazoff being beaten by 33 lengths in the grafton cup and winning start at rosehill at $24 it happens |

Red Machine, if Sunline was coming back from a spell, would you wait for her to get some "fitness" or would you get on her straight away? Isn't this why horses have trainers? To make sure they are ready to run? We don't just round up a few nags from a paddock and get them to run around. I for one am particularly interested if a horse is returning after 150 days or more. Don't know why, it just looks weird in the chartform. Four tomorrow are: BR4 - Past Blast (153 days) SR5 - Marakesh Express (196 days) MR4 - Raptor (164) MR8 - Chiming door (199) SR6 & SR8 have two horses over 150 days, so I'll leave them alone for now. _________________ Pick it to win, back it to place. |

I have amended the original posting and you are right, those persons are promptly shown the door. |

Hmmmm, this was better than even I was expecting. Past Blast - very close fourth. Marakesh Express - 2nd paying $2.40 on UniTAB Raptor - bold frontrunner but fitness definitely told when faded. Chiming door - run of the race to finsih third paying $15.10!! Only one day, but I'll keep them in my stable all the same. Placegetter |
