There may not be as many races at longer distances but in my opinion that doesn't mean the stats have less meaning than those at shorter distances. There will always be more races at shorter distances, all we can judge by is the evidence thats actually available.
I ran the same stats for TAB #1 in Hcp races from 1/1/2000 and interestingly all distances ranges level out at 19% +/- 1%
My point is a general one that many people hold fixed views about 'this and that' when it comes to form and various racing factors. Most of them are simply untrue.
There are very few pure statistics that hold any sort of meaningful advantage for the punter. The game isn't that simple.
