Mav's mate Wenceslas Square FINALLY won it's first race!!! If you could ignore the fact that he had gone 23 races without a win, he did actually look like a good thing today.
I wonder if Mav had a few bucks on him. |

I think my new years resolution is going to have to be to show something like the faith that Mav shows his horses. Absolutely kicking myself right now!!! Kadazan, the horse which won the last in Sydney at HUGE odds was believe it or not, one of my blackbookers today. He had actually had two unplaced runs since I put him in the blackbook in late November, but you really should give a horse 3 runs before you discard them. Anyway, I sat here just watching the huge odds on the screen not being able to decide if I should back it or not. Funny thing is if it had been 10-1 or something, I definitely would have backed it, but at 100-1, I didn't even end up putting a dollar each way on it. I did put it in a couple of any2s and got a little bit out of it that way, but right now, I just can't believe that I had a great chance to back a $132 winner and didn't. How dumb. This isn't the first time this has happened. I missed out on a 70-1 shot in similar circumstances, simply because I pay too much damn attention to the odds of the horse.

.... and I apologise sincerely that I didn't give out the tip to you guys, because I'm sure you wouldn't have worried about the odds!

Unlucky Sportz...i show alot of faith in my horses but usually they've done enough to keep me interested Moonbi Nymph was a good example ..always had excuses,, Riding tactics ,,bad luck or whatever.....if they've put together 2 shockers with no excuses i'd usually discard them...
Remeber that old grey horse that Mr Ed and i had followed but jumped off and he won during the spring at 200's ... i think we've all got these types of stories...it'll do your head in thinking to much about them |

Honestly now i never look at the odds if i am going to judge any runner by its form. It has absolutely no relevance to how the horse will run and its just a bunch of other, however mis-informed opinions. All the tote shows me, is what i will get if my selection wins, not what will win.

That's why I'm so mad at myself. I didn't back the horse because of other people's opinion, not mine.

Well done, mate. It's my own silly fault. I should have done the same. |
