thanks for that raw instinct.

i did know but what i was trying to say is that in an information world it is very difficult to get information.
for instance we know the difficulty of the tvn/tabcorp issue and with the cricket the internet for all its greatness you look at the google news on your pc and the cricket hasnt been updated for 4 hours.
the tv was having a news and childrens show break and i couldnt find out anywhere what the scores were so i went looking for it and found it in india of all places with a ball by ball website.

obviously with racing and cricket etc information is power and we are not particularly well served.
but i will learn to give these things up one day and it then it wont bother me . thanks for your interest.

here is a promising article i just come across:

Racing broadcast wars over soon

Long suffering country and regional racing fans will soon be able to watch TVN on the Austar platform, well at least thats the 'late mail' coming from the last round of talks between the warring parties- TVN and Sky.

The broadcast split, which has dragged on since May last year, revolved around who could broadcast racing, from where and to whom. Sydney and Victorian racing has been unavailable to Austar subscribers due to an exclusive deal it had previously signed with Sky channel. And with Sky appearing to go out of its way to ensure its new rival, the industry set up and owned TVN failed, there was no end in sight for Austar and regional viewers.

But with Sky's master Tabcorp forecasting a further drop in earnings (EPS) from 5% down to 2-4%, and with the TVN aligned clubs squealing in the background over costs and the drop in revenue, a compromise was needed.

The main points are...

Sky wants to broadcast to the Pubs and Clubs combining the TVN signal with its own.

TVN would then be available to Austar home viewers. Split signal to continue for homes. TVN continue its sole focus on thoroughbreds and 'new media' opportunities. eg mobile phone, etc. It seems like a win, win deal. Sydney metrop and Victorian racing gets dedicated home viewing, the hardcore fans. And Pubs and Clubs (with further rationalising of races) get back the wall to wall coverage on which they thrived previously. Throw in Skys new found dedication to country racing and the expected increase in turnover that should come with the one signal into gambling houses and maybe the future isnt that grim after all.

Mooney think you might find that it fell through. An article in the Age Friday stated that Sky channel have knocked the approach back so is back to square one

i noted last week that 50 country race meetings have been cancelled for the coming year due to the downturn caused by the dispute.
i read the item posted and it looked promising i think it was in the townsville news as it seems that queensland relies on austar.
i havent read that it fell through.

i have the dispute in my google alerts and get updates every so often.

apparently thousands of peoplehave cancelled their austar accounts over the dispute and i will one of them soon.
its very unhelpful.

some people have a death wish. prizemoney will be cut as well if it continues as well as the country meetings being cut out.
