I meant it was her pet distance on that day for that class, due to her last effort at the distance and her rating for it [best ever]. Maybe I shouldn't have used the word 'pet' [You mis-quoted, I didn't use capitals did I? anyway who cares] but close enough for her on the day as it turned out. I did something right anyway, regardless of how I perhaps, wrongly described it in a flourish of enthusiasm. Do we have a point of contention here Party?

I'm a handicapper mate, not a systemite [part time perhaps but play money only]. It's hard to explain to the uninitiated. Apart from the facts, there is a bit of art and intuition involved. My strike rate averages is 25% for handicapping at profit average prices. Better than any system I've ever tried. When I do, I handicap the selections anyway [can't help myself]!

Crash, Absolutely NO POINT OF CONTENTION here mate!! I am merely trying to learn from my betters!

You will see from my projected BEST bets that they have performed at the distance, you know; boxed in, ran wide , ran on etc etc, whereas with Brindabella I can't see anything that pointed to HER, at the distance, "you" saw the pointer, I am merely trying to emulate your thoughts for future performances!!

OK Party, enough flattery:-)
I certainly never see myself as your 'better'. You and plenty of others here have skills and knowledge about racing that I know I don't have. I'm just and old fashioned form follower and race dissector. I have progressed through a bit from sitting in a quiet spot with the Sportsman and Winning Post, different colored pens and and a few writing pads at the ready.

I use the computer now to check horse history searching out the peaks and troughs etc. I'm looking for what the public have missed or hopefully will miss [which ain't a lot nowadays]. Brindabella's previous run to her win was a typical example, although it's not very often the public have missed enough to let a horse's odds blow out to fat overs of $13. Classic Kala was another, but a lot of punters were on to it over that track and distance. I also get it all dead wrong too and lead myself up the garden path more often than I like..

Like you, I also like stuffing around with systems but I don't hold my breath in that area or excel [accidental pun] in it like you and a few others here. I'm just not good enough shaking out the raw stats or innovative rules. I can't stick to them either. Just can't help peeking at the other runners form in the race and often as not ignore the system selection for something else entirely!

Cheers.

Crash, I am another with little idea when it comes to really seriously looking at the form, but I was wondering where can you get the detailed form like this from. Were these comments your own additions or are they published somewhere. Most form guides leave out this important information that can offer reasons for a horses good/bad run, what form guides are the better around?

Cheers

Ctos,

Hi there !

I have no idea of your punting experience. The comments are what happened from a video replay.

I think the Winning Post at $3.50 and available Friday morning here in the country but Thurs. in the city. Covers Fri., Sat, Sun. Mon main meeting so it's good value. Avoid the Sportsman and the Wizard unless you are a very experienced handicapper as too much info will confuse.

The comments in the W/post are good value [unlike newspapers]. You can subscribe to any level of services on-line from rating services to video services. Be careful though, it's a minefield with a lot of junk out there.
If your not betting serious money they are all a waste of time because the costs are not cheap and you have to win those back before you even start to make a profit.
Any site claiming you will make a profit just by using their services, ignore immediately or ask that you pay them only from those profits or not at all.

This site is supposed to be good for the services it supplies too.

Cheers.
